Interview with Cosplayer Kit Quinn

Kit Quinn as Wonder Woman

Today we interview Kit Quinn (Comic Impact’s Cosplay Girl of the Year, 2010) about Cosplaying.

How did you get involved in cosplay?
My best friend Tallest Silver was going to Cons and finally once I hit college I was able to go to San Diego Comic Con. Hit the floor with three new costumes and never looked back.

Do you have any memorable stories from conventions?
Every con has a memorable moment otherwise we wouldn’t go! My favorite moments are getting to meet the creators of shows while I’m dressed as the character.

What do you think are some common mistakes that first time Cosplayers make?
The biggest mistake is not planning for disaster. Always have your electrical tape (comes in many colors) and safety pins!

Are there any costumes you’re working on at the moment that you plan to unveil in the future? How long does it take to make that costume?
I will be unveiling Spider Woman (Jessica Drew) at New York Comic Con this week! That costume took me a leisurely week. some costumes take me months (Arkham Asylum Harley Quinn, or Siren from TRON Legacy)

Nerd Question: If you could form your own superhero team, what four superheroes/villains would be on it and why?
Squirrel Girl, Brick Frog, The Bowler, and The Flaming C because this epic mash up of random heroes/villains from all of pop culture would be epic. And 10 points to everyone who knows where all these characters come from.

Is there anything you’d like to add?
Hairdryers belong in the crafting bin, not the bathroom.
